The ylang ylang plant is native to the Philippines and Indonesia and is commonly grown in Polynesia, Melanesia, Micronesia and Comoros Islands. Ylang Ylang oil has a flowery fragrance that has been used by romantics for centuries. It has been an ancient tradition in Indonesia to spread Ylang Ylang petals across the bed of newlyweds.

It takes five years for the ylang ylang tree to even begin producing these perfumed blooms, but after it does, it will go on producing an average of 45 pounds of flowers annually for 40-50 years.
